Let Us Post Your Degree In Our System

Helping Students Succeed At Their Local Colleges and Universities

Perhaps you've already read the web page on this site regarding our degree exploration system, Degree Quest. But what about those who already know which degree they want to earn and are committed to attending their local college? How, then, do we assist those who are attending their local college and enjoy taking classes on campus? That's where we examine the degree that each student is pursuing on campus to enable us to provide guidance to students desiring to use our support, systems, and resources to accelerate their progress to a degree while saving time and money along the way.

Students provide us with their transcript and, if they have one, a student status report that shows the curriculum requirements for the degree being pursued at the local college. Our staff will download academic policy information from the website and online catalog hosted by the college or university, as well as extracting information from the national online databases that present information on colleges and universities nationwide. We will use this information to help develop a plan that shows where the student currently stands and ask the student to take the plan to the counselor on campus to ensure the information presented therein is correct. When it is affirmed as being right on target, we then offer our services and support to the student for as long as it takes to earn the degree, as we offer a continuum of counseling support all the way to graduation.

If the student has a local counselor to speak with at the college, why then does he or she need the counseling support of the National College Counseling Center? Let's put things in perspective: The local college is in the business of keeping its professors gainfully employed and they need students like you to enroll in as many courses as possible to achieve their goal. We, on the other hand, will guide you in the use of more than a thousand resource that are on our advanced student support website, HERC, to empower you to earn college credit by examination, will assist you in getting the credit you deserve for your professional training, military service, licenses and certifications, and any other source of credit that you have earned in the past. We are your advocate, at your side as you pursue the degree that you desire.

Transitioning to Degree Quest is Easy

Reach a limit? We'll empower you to keep going...

What happens if the student reaches the maximum limit for the application of non-traditional college credit at his or her local college, but still desires to continue using the resources on our advanced student support website, HERC, to earn additional college credit? What happens if the student completes additional professional training at his or her place of employment and could receive college credit for the training, yet has met the limit for non-traditional college credit at his or her local college?

We can merge the student's academic accomplishments into degrees in our Degree Quest system in the field of study desired by the student. Because our participating colleges allow up to 75% or more of the degree to be fulfilled in transfer, the local college credit can apply to the new degree and often enable the student to stay the course and continue taking courses locally to apply to the new degree. In fact, we have hundreds of degrees where all or nearly all of the degree requirements can be fulfilled in transfer, with the host college conferring the degree when the student has met all the requirements. This allows the student to earn as much credit as possible through professional training or by using the tuition-free courses to earn college credit by examination and, thereby, accelerate his or her progress to the degree desired.

If you have not yet watched the Supporting Local Colleges video, please take a few minutes to do so. You'll be glad that you did.
