Strategic Education Planning for the Adult Learner
We designed this course with our students in mind - adult learners pursuing degrees across the nation. This online seminar is an option that we present to prospective clients to provide their workforce with instruction to help them understand the higher education system in America and be able to take full advantage of the opportunities available to students nationwide. Although the course title is shown at the top of this paragraph, this seminar can be modified specifically for the corporations that we serve, with several of the chapters tailored for the organization supported. At that point, we would host the seminar on a dedicated site and call it Strategic Education Planning for XYZ Corporation Employees, bearing the identity of the organization served.
There are 18 modules of instruction in this course and, if a student works through the entire course, it would take around 40 to 45 hours to complete. (Most students pick and choose the modules that they want to work through, skipping the sections they feel has no relevance to them personally.) The seminar is based on a 350+ page book that we, at the National College Counseling Center, created entitled Accelerated Paths to Degree Completion. Even the most seasoned education professionals that we work with who have accessed the course said they learned quite a bit from the instruction.

The course includes a number of journal articles and extracts from periodicals that relate to the topics covered. There are a number of PowerPoint presentations and even videos that are built into the course.
There are several colleges and universities that offer variations of this seminar as a college course. Some declared the course as a Social Science course, as the instruction discusses learning modalities, the sociological impact of education, and the economic impact education has on individuals. Others have declared it an interdisciplinary course, blending Education and Social Sciences.
We welcome the opportunity to offer this seminar to your workforce. Should students work through the entire course, passing each of the 16 examinations that are offered at the end of most modules of instruction, we should be able to coordinate the awarding of 3 semester hours of college credit for the participants.
